Why Mountains concrete goes green

Shade, damp and leaf litter — the three things this area has more of than anywhere else in Sydney's west. Concrete that sits under trees, gets mist most mornings and doesn't see direct sun for half the day grows a film of moss, algae and lichen that no amount of hosing will shift.

Pressure washing FAQs

  • Priced by area and how bad it is — a lightly greyed path is quick, ten years of moss under a liquidambar is not. Send a photo and the rough dimensions and I'll give you a figure without coming out.

  • Not on sound concrete. Sandstone, old pavers and crumbling mortar need lower pressure and more care, which is most of what you're paying for. If a surface isn't safe to clean I'll say so rather than take material off it.

  • In a shaded Mountains spot, generally a year or two before the green comes back. Full sun holds longer. Most people book it annually, often with the gutter clean.

  • No, as long as there's access to an outside tap and safe entry. I'll send before and after photos.
